bulletThe Venue

The main Working Group meeting, including the review of the CCAMLR Ecosystem Monitoring Programme, will be held at Girton College, Cambridge.    Girton (established in 1869) was the first residential College for women attending Cambridge University though it has been a mixed College since 1977.  If you want more information on Girton College there is an extensive web-site.  The College occupies extensive grounds about two and a half miles northwest of the centre of Cambridge, is located on the Huntingdon Road (A14) and is close to Girton Village.

The Acoustic Survey Workshop will be held at British Antarctic Survey.  Like Girton, British Antarctic Survey is on the west side of Cambridge and situated on the Madingley Road (see link to maps below).  For attendees at the Acoustic Survey Workshop, transport will be provided between Girton and BAS at the start and end of each day.

bulletTravel

Arriving by Air
The international airports of London-Stansted (40 mins) and Luton (60 mins) are the closest to Cambridge but these, and the major international airports of London-Gatwick  and London Heathrow, all have regular airport bus links and all but Luton have express shuttle trains that give frequent access to Cambridge (see below).

Train Links to Cambridge
Express shuttle trains run every 15 minutes or so from Heathrow and Gatwick airports into London's mainline railway stations.   Information on these can be located at  the rail websites UK Railways on the Net  and National Rail and  also at  the more specific websites for Gatwick and Heathrow airports.  The Heathrow Express terminates at London Paddington Station whilst the Gatwick Express terminates at London Victoria Station.  Use the London Underground to cross London from these stations to either King's Cross Station or Liverpool Street Station.  There is a  Stansted shuttle train direct to Cambridge.  There are two trains an hour to Cambridge from both Kings Cross and Liverpool Street  throughout the day.

Bus Links  to Cambridge
Information on the bus network, including timetables and online booking facilities are available at the National Express website (or telephone +44-(0)875-808080).  Airport buses run more or less hourly from Stansted, Luton, Gatwick and Heathrow and are operated by Jetlink.   Airport buses are cheaper than the trains but travel times can be much longer, particularly from Gatwick.  Jetlink timetables and online booking facilities are available at the National Express  website.

Banking facilities and ATM's are all located in Cambridge.
